SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — An Illinois state department is offering important updates to SNAP benefits in December.
The Illinois Department of Human Services said that full December SNAP benefits will be issued as normal.
IDHS also said they would not use new federal changes to SNAP eligibility for noncitizens at this time. Those changes were part of Trump's budget bill , according to IDHS.
According to the One Big, Beautiful Bill, SNAP eligibility is now limited to US citizens, US nationals, lawful permanent residents, Cuban and Haitian entrants, and Compacts of Free Association citizens , or people from the Federated States of Micronesia, the Marshall Islands, or Palau.
