MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCSC) — The Mount Pleasant Police Department is warning residents of a circulating phone scam from someone posing to be a police sergeant.
Police say the imposter caller is claiming to be Sgt. Jermaine Gilliard and discussing “urgent matters.”
Police advise anyone who receives this call to not engage, send money or share personal information, and to hang up immediately for suspicious calls claiming to be from an officer.
Callers can verify a suspicious call by calling the official non-emergency dispatch line at 843-743-7200 or the Mount Pleasant Police Department at 843-884-4176.
