Bill 14, introduced Thursday, reacted fiercely to any hint that signatures collected during a referendum drive would be used for partisan political purposes.

On Oct. 9, I wrote in a column that Thomas Lukaszuk is sitting on a treasure chest of voter data and might even start a new party.

The former Progressive Conservative deputy premier collected more than 400,000 valid signatures for his Forever Canadian campaign.

Lukaszuk didn’t quite say he’d use those signatures for political ends.

Indeed, the rules make it virtually impossible. All information must be turned in and destroyed.

But he was ambiguous.
