D'oh! Fans of The Simpsons will have to wait longer for their big-screen return. In September 2025, 20th Century Fox announced that a second Simpsons movie, working title The Simpsons 2, would take the July 2027 release date window previously reserved for an untitled Marvel Cinematic Universe film. This meant the next cinematic adventure for Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie would be arriving 20 years after The Simpsons Movie opened in theaters, an even longer gap than between when The Simpsons premiered and the first movie opened.
