ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — Waymo’s self-driving cars are now being investigated by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

The NHTSA is looking into multiple incidents of Waymo’s driving past stopped school buses in Atlanta and in Austin.

Atlanta Public Schools confirmed to Atlanta News First they have had six bus stop-arm violations by Waymo vehicles from May to December. One of those incidents is now under investigation.

According to documents, on Sept. 22, a Waymo failed to stay at a stop when approaching a school bus that was stopped with its red lights flashing and stop arm deployed.

The Waymo approached the bus from the right and initially stopped, but then drove around the bus. There was no operator in the car.
