A woman from Mississippi was killed in a single-vehicle crash near Folsom in St. Tammany Parish on Friday morning, authorities said.

Sandy A. Meyer, 64, of Carriere, Mississippi, was driving east on Louisiana 1078 near Spinks Road when she veered of the right side of the highway and struck a tree with her 2006 Mercury Grand Marquis, the Louisiana State Police said in a press release.

Meyer was wearing a seatbelt, but suffered "serious injuries" and died after being transported to a local hospital, the police said.

State Police said the crash remains under investigation.
