A Spotsylvania man died Friday morning after police say his SUV shot across multiple lanes of traffic and crashed into a pole at a busy Virginia intersection.
Police said the crash happened shortly after 9:30 a.m. on Friday, Dec 5, at Plank Road and Gateway Boulevard in Fredericksburg.
Investigators from the Fredericksburg Police Department said a black Ford SUV crossed several lanes before striking a traffic light pole. Police said the initial investigation shows “speeding and aggressive driving may have been contributing factors.”
The Fredericksburg Fire Department provided immediate medical aid.
Police said the 32-year-old driver was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His family has been notified.
The crash remains under investigation by the Fredericksburg Police Department and the Stafford Sheriff’s Office reconstruction teams.
Police said they “extend (their) deepest condolences to the family and loved ones affected by this tragic event.”
No additional details have been released by the agency.
