FOLSOM, La. (WLOX) - On Friday, officials with the Louisiana Highway Patrol confirmed the identity of a Mississippi woman killed in a car crash in St. Tammany Parish earlier in the day.

At around 11 a.m., officials were called to investigate a single-vehicle crash on LA-1078 near Spinks Road. The crash claimed the life of 64-year-old Sandy A. Meyer of Carriere.

Officials believe that Meyer’s ’06 Mercury Grand Marquis was heading east on the highway when it left the roadway and struck a tree. Meyer was taken to be treated at a nearby hospital, where she later died.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
