KANSAS CITY, Kan. (KCTV) - Dozens of family and friends of crime victims met to honor their lost loved ones at the Remembrance Reception at Memorial Hall.
The emotional tribute allowed those impacted by violent crime to meet each other, share stories of their lost loved ones and add ornaments in their honor to an angel tree.
The angel tree tradition was started by the Kansas Attorney General in 1995. The reception provides families a time to know they are not alone in their grief as they head into the holiday season.
Families heard from the Kansas Bureau of Investigation, the Attorney General’s office and leaders from the Kansas Organization for Victim Assistance about why this tradition means so much.
