ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) - Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport is planning for some major upgrades and a possible expansion.
The Roanoke Blacksburg Regional Airport Commission and the City of Roanoke are continuing to explore the possibility of expanding the airport by extending one of its runways . Roanoke leaders say if it happens, the expansion will have major benefits for the entire Roanoke Valley.
“Better services where you don’t necessarily have to go down to another airport to travel, and you can just do a nonstop flight,” said Roanoke City Council Member Nick Hagen. “Then you’ve got things like economic development as well.
