KONA (HawaiiNewsNow) - A suspect is in custody for robbery and assault on Hawaii Island.

Officers arrested Andrew Green, 40, in connection with two separate violent incidents that occurred early Monday morning in Kona.

Shortly before 2 a.m., Kona Patrol officers responded reports of a robbery at a hotel on Sarona Road.

The victim, a 67-year-old male night auditor, told police that an unknown man in his 30s entered the lobby with a 4-foot pipe yelling, “I am God, and I can do or take whatever I want.”

The suspect allegedly jumped over the counter, swung twice at the victim with the weapon, and threatened him.

The victim was able to avoid injury and dodge the alleged swings.

Police say the Green then took the victim’s backpack and ran away.
