SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - Sarasota county is expanding their water treatment plants off of Bee Ridge Road, in Venice Gardens, and in Central County.

Friday, December 5th, the county held their ribbon cutting ceremony for the Bee Ridge plant, which went from treating 12 million gallons a day to 18 million gallons.

Not only is this providing water treatment that looks towards the ever growing population of Florida, but it is also tapping into innovative technology that has the multiple other countries visiting the plant to learn more.

Public Utilities Director for Sarasota County, Brooke Bailey explains, “The membrane bio reactor technology is state of the art, and we are the largest in the state of Florida to have this technology here and so we’re getting recognition across the nation and
