SARASOTA, Fla. ( WWSB ) - A multifamily affordable housing complex is one step closer to beginning construction in Sarasota.

Resilient SRQ and Sarasota County Government said a new multifamily affordable housing project recently received the authority to use grant funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

The affordable housing project will be called Sarasota Station , located at 2211 Fruitville Rd.

It will have a total of 202 units, and 104 units will be affordable units. The 7.8-acre property will include studios, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom apartments. It’ll also have a basketball court, dog park, business and community center and legacy trail.
