GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - Wisconsin could have its federal funding for the SNAP FoodShare program withheld by the Trump administration as early as next week unless Governor Tony Evers turns over recipient information, including immigration status.

So far, the governor is refusing to do so.

About 700,000 Wisconsinites receive SNAP benefits.

Previously, the governor has said that the program is analyzed each year, and he feels confident in it, which is why he’s not willing to comply with the president’s request.

SNAP benefits at the federal level are overseen by the Department of Agriculture, and this week, Secretary Brooke Rollins sent a warning to Democrat-controlled states refusing to comply with their request for information that the government will “begin to stop moving federal funds
