KENNER, La. — Heavy presence of U.S. Border Patrol agents in Kenner has left many in the Hispanic community feeling unsafe, anxious, and targeted.
“This feeling is very horrible,” one resident said. “I told my mom right now I feel like someone is going to kidnap me from my country.”
WWL Louisiana crews first encountered a federal vehicle Friday morning near the intersection of Auburn and Trinity. The agents left shortly after we saw them.
Not long after, our crews saw agents again near Helena and 27th Street. A more coordinated presence followed on Williams Boulevard, where five Border Patrol vehicles pulled over on the interstate on-ramp. The agents appeared to be discussing their next move.
