LEESVILLE, La. (KPLC) - A 13-year-old has been arrested in Leesville after being accused of an overnight shooting, according to the Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Office.
The Sheriff’s Office says they received a 911 call around 12:25 a.m. this morning. Dec. 5, regarding the shooting. Deputies and emergency personnel were immediately dispatched to a residence on Hughes Road near West Hawthorne Road to investigate.
When deputies arrived, they say they found Kavin Simmons Jr., 21, with a single gunshot wound to the chest. First responders tended to Simmons, but he would ultimately be pronounced dead at the scene.
During their investigation, detectives determined that Simmons and a 13-year-old male family member had been having an argument when the boy got a pistol and shot Simmons.
