Russian President Vladimir Putin paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on Friday during his two-day state visit to India, visiting Rajghat to honour the leader’s legacy of peace and non-violence. Accompanied by Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh, Putin laid a wreath, offered floral tributes and observed a moment of silence at the memorial.

Following the ceremony, Putin penned a message in the visitors’ book, describing Gandhi as a towering figure in global moral and political thought. In his note, the Russian leader referred to Gandhi as a founder of modern independent India, a humanist and a great freedom fighter, while highlighting the continuing relevance of his ideas.
