Most people never imagine their dog might gain an admirer from afar, yet a couple in Vermont discovered that their own pup had captured someone’s heart without them knowing.
They had adopted Myrtle, an American Pit Bull Terrier , from the Humane Society of Chittenden County.
Before arriving there, she had gone by the name Angel and had been rescued in Georgia by Baldwin County Animal Control & Services in Georgia during a cruelty case.
When she was found, Myrtle weighed only 25 pounds and required extensive medical care along with the chance to recover emotionally.
Her body still carries the marks of what she endured, although her life now is defined by the affection offered by the people who chose her.
