A donor's massive $401 million commitment to Michigan State University's athletic department , announced Friday by university l eaders, is one of the largest in the history of U.S. college athletics.

East Lansing's Greg and Dawn Williams pledged $401 million of their wealth to the university, which included a $301 million gift, making it, by nearly 10 times, the largest private donation in the university's history. Greg Williams is the founder and CEO of the Grand Rapids-based fintech and insurance giant Acrisure.
