LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - U.S. Congressman Henry Cuellar said he remains focused on his re-election campaign after President Trump announced a pardon for him and his wife Dec. 3 on Truth Social.
Cuellar had been indicted last year on conspiracy, bribery and money laundering charges. He was accused of accepting about $600,000 in bribes from foreign-linked companies, allegations he has repeatedly denied. A trial had been set for next spring.
“You don’t convict somebody beyond a reasonable doubt on ‘we think’, or ‘this is what we suspect on it,’” Cuellar said.
Cuellar criticized federal prosecutors for including his wife, Imelda, in the charges.
