ORANGE, CT. (WFSB) - The town of Orange has banned short-term Airbnb rentals under 30 days in residential areas after complaints about wild parties and safety concerns from neighbors.
Orange’s Planning and Zoning Committee approved an amendment to zoning regulations this week that prohibits Airbnb-type rentals lasting less than 30 days.
“What we set out to regulate was short term rentals, Airbnb type rentals,” said Oscar Parente, Chair, Orange Planning and Zoning Commission.
The ban does not affect all rental arrangements.
“If a homeowner wants to enter into a long-term leasing arrangement, that is allowed,” said Kevin Cornell, Orange Planning and Zoning Commission member.
