Simone Tata, a key figure in the Tata Group, passed away on Friday, December 5, at Mumbai's Breach Candy hospital after a brief illness. She was 95.

She was the mother of Noel Tata and the stepmother of the late Tata Group chairman Ratan Tata. Simone had been battling with symptoms of Parkinson's disease. In August this year, she was brought to Mumbai's Breach Candy Hospital after receiving initial treatment at King’s Hospital in Dubai.

She is survived by her son, Noel Tata, his wife, Aloo Mistry, and her grandchildren, Neville, Maya, and Leah.

The Tata Group mourned the passing of Simone Tata, remembering her legendary contributions in building Lakmé into India's top cosmetics brand, pioneering fashion retail with Westside, and guiding philanthropy.
