SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - The South Dakota State volleyball team won the first NCAA Tournament set in program history Friday evening but fell 3-1 to Arizona in the opening round at Maples Pavilion.
Set scores against the Wildcats went 21-25, 25-22, 15-25, 15-25.
South Dakota State ends the year with a 23-5 overall record while Arizona advances to the second round with a 17-12 mark.
Sylvie Zgonc was a bright spot for the Jackrabbits.
The junior notched 21 kills and had only three errors on the night for the .375 hitting percentage.
With 14 digs, she tallied her 14th double-double of the season.
Sydni Schetnan hit .385 for the match with five kills on 13 errorless swings.
The redshirt senior also notched a team-high four block assists.
