A day after being released into the wild at Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh, a cheetah cub was found dead on Friday. The cub, aged around 10 months, was found dead in the forest.
The cub, along with its mother cheetah Veera and a sibling, was released on International Cheetah Day on Thursday. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav released female cheetah Veera and her two cubs into the park’s free-ranging area.
However, one of the cubs separated from its mother and sibling during the night and was discovered dead a few hours later, an official told PTI.
The cause of death will be known only after the autopsy report is completed, he said. Veera and her remaining cub were found together and are reported to be doing well.
