A fire in a restaurant in a town in the southern Peruvian Andes, which does not have a local fire department, left at least 10 dead and three injured, authorities reported on Friday.
The fire started on the first floor of the building and then spread to the second floor where the victims were unable to escape, Huancané municipal official Yasmani Torres told the local press.
Residents, municipal officials, and police carried buckets of water to try to extinguish the fire.
They also brought in a tanker truck to spray water.
