There’s a new vision for the site of the Safeway on Marina Boulevard in San Francisco.
Developer Align Real Estate revealed Thursday plans to transform the waterfront store, which is located next to fort mason, into a mixed-use location.
If approved, the building would have nearly 800 homes and a Safeway at the ground level.
The company also released these renderings of its plan.
It would also feature a 25-story double-tower structure design, which could possibly impact on some nearby residents’ view of the water.
Mayor Daniel Lurie through a spokesperson tells The Chronicle that he opposes the project, citing concerns over the building’s proposed height following the passage of his “family zoning” plan this week.
