European Union foreign policy chief, Kaja Kallas, defended the enduring alliance between the United States and Europe, despite pointed critiques from Washington's recent National Security Strategy document.

The strategy, released last week, starkly criticized Europe's current trajectory, suggesting the continent risks 'civilisational erasure' and labeling the EU as anti-democratic.

Speaking at the Doha Forum, Kallas acknowledged some of the criticisms but underscored that the U.S. remains Europe's most crucial ally, advocating for European self-confidence and transatlantic unity.
