A hazardous situation has erupted in Jharkhand's Dhanbad district as a poisonous gas leak from underground mines has been confirmed, with carbon monoxide levels reaching a perilous 1,500 parts per million. This figure is significantly above the permissible limit, instigating panic among local residents and authorities.

Efforts are underway to evacuate the affected population as experts from the Directorate General of Mines Safety and the local IIT assessed the alarming conditions.
