The Canadiens defenceman broke three sticks during Wednesday night’s 3-2 shootout win over the Winnipeg Jets at the Bell Centre. The third stick broke during the final minute of overtime when Matheson was set up by Cole Caufield for a one-timer with a great chance to end the game and the stick snapped in half. Thankfully for the Canadiens and Matheson, Caufield was able to score the winning goal in the shootout. Otherwise, Matheson’s third broken stick could have cost the Canadiens a point in the standings.
