Alexandre Pantoja walked into UFC 323 looking to make his fifth flyweight title defense against Joshua Van, but nobody in the arena could’ve guessed how the fight would end. During the bout, as he tried to catch himself with his arm, it bent the wrong way, and it looked like it either popped out or snapped on impact. The fight stopped right there with Van becoming the new UFC flyweight cham. Now Dana White has given an update on the whole situation.

Initially, it looked like an elbow dislocation, but medical teams confirmed it was actually his shoulder that popped out. Either way, the damage was severe enough to stop the fight immediately and cost him the belt. Meanwhile, sharing an update, White said he doesn’t see Pantoja returning anytime soon after the freak injury at UFC 323.
