Two people were killed and three others were injured in a shooting Saturday afternoon in Muskegon.

Police responded to a report of shots fired on the 600 block of Jackson Avenue at about 3:15 p.m. Saturday, according to a release from the Muskegon Police Department.

A 25-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. A 22-year-old woman was taken to Trinity Hospital where she died from her injuries, police said.

Two men, both 25, are in critical condition, and a 4-year-old child sustained minor injuries in the shooting, police said.

Police are investigating the circumstances that led to the shooting and said it does not appear to be a random act. Police did not release the identities of the victims.
