DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — A 14-year-old boy was hospitalized after accidentally shooting himself in the foot in Decatur Saturday morning.
The Decatur Police Department responded to the hospital in reference to a boy who shot himself in the foot around 10:40 a.m.
After speaking to the boy, police determined that he went into his mother's room while he was home alone, found a pistol and started playing with it. DPD said the boy ultimately accidentally loaded the gun and shot himself in the foot.
The boy is expected to be okay.
