PennDOT crews have begun a $148 million project to rehabilitate the bridges that carry Market Street over train railways, Interstate 76 and the Schuylkill River Trail.

A construction project on I-76 West , also known as the Schuylkill Expressway , between 30th Street and the I-676 interchanges will lead to lane reductions and closures until June.

According to PennDOT , the plans are part of its larger Market Street Bridge construction project and will last from Dec. 7, 2025, until June 1, 2026.

Between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. on Sunday through Thursday, the roadway will be closed, PennDOT said. Additionally, the roadway will be reduced to one lane from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Sunday through Thursday
