Tyrann Mathieu , the Louisiana football legend and former Saints safety, has a message for all New Orleans Saints fans.

"The saints should build everything around [quarterback] Tyler [Shough]," Mathieu posted on X Sunday afternoon. "He showed me something today!!! His numbers won’t wow you, but it’s the critical situations in football that he’s winning! This city should absolutely get behind him and embrace him as QB for the next decade!!"

The Saints selected Shough with the No. 40 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. The 6-foot-5 athlete showed a lot of promise as a pro prospect, but also made teams hesitate with his injury history and being 25 at the time of the draft.

On Sunday, Shough showed heart with two gutsy runs into the end zone that pushed the Saints over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers
