For the 20th time, Villanova is the women’s Big 5 champion.

Brynn McCurry scored 21 points as the Wildcats led most of the way in a 76-70 win over Saint Joseph’s Sunday in the Big 5 Classic at Finneran Pavilion.

Jasmine Bascoe and Kelsey Joens scored 13 points each. Denae Carter paired 10 points with eight rebounds and three blocks for the Wildcats (8-2), who have won six straight games.

Villanova led the entire second half. The edge stretched to seven points on a Brooke Bender 3-pointer with 2:27 left, the dagger to the Hawks’ hopes of rallying. Two McCurry free throws made it a nine-point edge in the final minute, Villanova holding St. Joe’s without a point for 4:47 in the fourth.
