Who will be the Boston Red Sox third baseman in 2026?

Ten months ago there was a lot of hype in Fort Myers right after the team’s front office signed Alex Bregman to a 3-year, 120 million dollars contract. He got an opt-out after each season of that deal. That also brought the same question for the 2025 season as they had to figure out what would happen with Rafael Devers.

«Let’s grade him 8 out of 10,» said Red Sox beat writer Chris Cotillo to El Emergente. «He had a great six weeks. He missed a big chunk due to injury and he was average the rest of the way, which was 2 and a half months. I give that season 6 out of 10 and he still opted out.»

Both Devers and Bregman are gone for now, as the Dominican-born player was traded to the San Francisco Giants earlier this year.
