HASTINGS, Fla. — An attempt to steal Christmas joy in Hastings, and it's not the Grinch!
St. Johns County leaders are warning people about a scam charging admission for the Hastings Christmas Parade next weekend.
"It's really fun, I get to bring out my little brothers and everything," said Jasmine Helms, who attends the free parade every year.
Helms finds a piece of the sidewalk to set up on annually to take in the Hastings Christmas Parade.
Although she takes it in from the sidelines most years, she did have a chance to participate in it when she was in Middle School.
"I was in the band, and we got to come out and play in the parade one year," said Helms. "I played the flute and loved it."
Helms couldn't believe it when she heard about a scam to charge admission for the parade.
