The South Dakota high school girls basketball season opened for a few area teams last week, with the rest expected to join into the action this week.

That's why it's a good time for this week's weekly poll to ask our readers to vote on the Public Opinion/Aberdeen American News Preseason Girls Basketball Player of the Year.

Voting will remain open until midnight on Sunday, Dec. 14.

Congratulations are in order for Watertown High School girls wrestler Olivia Anderson for winning our Preseason Wrestler of the Year poll from last week. She edged Watertown standout boys wrestler Gage Lohr for the honor.
