Manipur: A large-scale anti-narcotics operation in Kangpokpi district of Manipur has wiped out 67 acres of illegal poppy cultivation, dealing a major blow to drug producers operating in Manipur’s remote hill belts. The two-day crackdown, conducted recently, brought together security forces, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and the Forest Department in a coordinated push across the hill ranges of Makui Ashang, Laloi, Wakotphai, Chaljang and nearby areas under Kangpokpi Police Station.
During the operation, police personnel located and dismantled 38 huts used by cultivators. They also seized a sizeable stock of cultivation materials, including 44 bags of fertilisers, 43 bottles of Roundup weedicide, 26 bags of salt, spray pumps, pipes and various
