The public are being asked to have their say on plans for the future of University of Gloucestershire’s Francis Close Hall in Cheltenham which faces a £14m maintenance backlog.

The grade II*-listed building, affectionately known as FCH, dates back to 1847 as the Cheltenham Training College, founded by Reverend Francis Close.

It is currently home to a mix of humanities, natural and social sciences, and creative arts programmes, as well as the university’s archive and the Countryside and Community Research Institute.

However, while it offers an inspiring backdrop for academic study, the campus needs major investment.
