The Maharashtra cabinet has approved a state-wide scheme to build all-weather, motorable approach roads connecting agricultural fields in rural areas, aiming to ease longstanding challenges faced by farmers during monsoon and harvest seasons.

The decision was taken at a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday, December 7, an official statement said.

Under the newly approved Mukhya Mantri Baliraja Shet-Panand Raste Yojana, road construction will now be carried out using 100% mechanised methods, ending the earlier dependence on manual labour required under the MGNREGA framework, which had slowed execution in many regions. The scheme promises durable, accessible farm-to-field roads across all districts of Maharashtra.
