A 52-year-old tenant farmer from Sungapur village in Tiryani mandal died by suicide after consuming pesticide on Sunday night. He reportedly faced severe financial distress due to crop losses, loans and family expenses. Police registered a case and began investigations

Kumram Bheem Asifabad: A 52-year-old farmer died, allegedly by suicide, after he became depressed due to mounting debts at Sungapur village in Tiryani mandal on Sunday night.

Police said Durgam Rajaiah, a tenant farmer from the village, consumed pesticide, after which he was rushed to a hospital in Asifabad. Doctors declared him brought dead.

Rajaiah had raised cotton in 10 acres leased from a local farmer, for which he borrowed loans. He incurred losses following a dip in yield caused by unfavourable climatic conditions
