Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that Vande Mataram played a major role in keeping India united during British rule. He made the statement in the Lok Sabha during a discussion held on Monday to mark the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram. He said that he felt proud to speak on the occasion and to join the discussion on the historic song.
