With Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) initiating works on the Bhandup Water Treatment Plant, a 15 per cent water cut was enforced across half of Mumbai (17 of the city’s 24 wards) from Monday morning. A 15 percent water cut will remain in place across 17 wards of the city until Tuesday morning.

According to officials, the BMC is set to kick off works on replacing the 2750-mm diameter water channel from Tansa, that supplies water from Tansa dam, to the water treatment plant in Bhandup. The work on laying the new water channel will be executed over a 24-hour period, which is set to affect water supply to the Bhandup plant by 15 per cent.

As work on the project commenced on Monday, a 15 percent water cut was enforced from 10 am on Monday.
