Build Canada Homes and the City of Ottawa have partnered to accelerate the construction of up to 3,000 affordable housing units, with the goal of breaking ground next year.
Prime Minister Mark Carney announced the partnership at the Mayor’s Breakfast Series early Monday morning, along with a joint investment of $400 million.
Under the agreement, the City of Ottawa also promised to reduce or waive development charges, permit fees and property taxes on “priority projects” for 2,000 new housing units.
