CANTON, Ohio — When Glenville won its second state football championship two years ago, a handful of sophomores emerged on that team.

As those sophomores became seniors and led the Tarblooders to Friday’s 45-7 win against Shelby in the OHSAA Division IV title game, it came with a new set of sophomores making their impact.

One of the biggest came from safety Jaquan Gibson, whose 92-yard punt return late in the first quarter gave Glenville (12-3) its first points of the morning at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium. Fellow sophomore Jaylen Edwards broke up multiple passes by Shelby quarterback Brayden DeVito and intercepted him amid a 3-of-18 passing day.
