The 2028 Open will tee off in August to avoid a clash with the Los Angeles Olympics. LA28 will run from July 14-30 - the traditional dates of the oldest Major.
And the four-day men’s Olympic golf event will start on Wednesday July 19 with a new two-day mixed team beginning on Sunday 23. The final round at the Open at Royal Birkdale next year will be held on July 19.
The R&A have now announced the 2028 Open will now start on August 3 with the following ISPS HANDA Senior Open and the AIG Women’s Open also pushed back by a fortnight. The venues have yet to be confirmed with St Andrews hosting in 2027. I
