Asked about the absence of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma from the upcoming T20I series between India and South Africa, captain Aiden Markram limited his emotions to two words: ‘it’s great’. However, he did also mention that despite the two greats, it was still a ‘great Indian team’.
Kohli and Rohit retired from T20Is in 2024, with their last match coming against Markram and Co. at the 2024 T20 World Cup in Barbados. They have been the biggest thorns in South Africa’s tour so far, with both scoring heaps of runs in the recent three-ODI series where the Proteas suffered a 2-1 defeat.
“It’s great that Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are not part of the T20I side, but still it’s a great Indian team," Markram said at the pre-series press conference at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack, as quoted by
