The Golden Globes has snubbed right-leaning hosts like Joe Rogan and former Fox News star Tucker Carlson in its inaugural best podcast category.

The six best podcast nominees included "Call Her Daddy" hosted by Alex Cooper, "Armchair Expert With Dax Shepard," "Good Hang With Amy Poehler" and "The Mel Robbins Podcast." NPR's "Up First" and "Smartless" by Will Arnett, Jason Bateman and Sean Hayes also received nods.

Out of the 25 shows eligible, no political podcasts received nominations sending a clear message during President Donald Trump's second term that the awards ceremony is staying away from the politics of podcasts.

Trump and his administration have spent the president's first year back in office taking aim at the entertainment industry and media for coverage they perceive as negative. The news arrives after the 2024 election a year ago in which some people believe that Rogan and other media personalities played an outsized role in shaping voter opinion.

The world's No. 1 podcast "The Joe Rogan Experience" led the right-wing shows shut out of the Globes, set to take place Jan. 11 in Los Angeles.

Conservative podcasts that were snubbed include "Candace" from Candace Owens, Carlson's eponymous show, "The Megyn Kelly Show" and "The Ben Shapiro Show." A favorite among progressives, "Pod Save America" was also shut out.

The Golden Globes announced the category in May ahead of 2026's first major awards show, honoring achievements in film and television. Midwest comedian Nikki Glaser is set to return as host of the 2026 Globes following rave reviews for the role last year.

The snubs for political podcast hosts come one day after the 48th Kennedy Center Honors held in Washington, D.C. where Trump handed out awards to a slate that included some of his biggest allies and supporters in Hollywood.
