FIFA have issued an apology after a mix-up involving Argentina head coach Lionel Scaloni prevented him from touching the Jules Rimet trophy without gloves on. It came during a chaotic draw for the 2026 World Cup , which saw plenty of different incidents going on in Washington DC.
The Argentinian boss, who won the World Cup in 2022 in Qatar , was brought on stage to help present the Jules Rimet trophy. Bizarrely, he was forced to wear gloves and wasn't seemingly allowed to touch the trophy without them, as part of a mix-up with the organisers.
